  • Leveled Literacy Intervention books, K–5

3. How do I access the temporary digital resources for FPC and LLI

Visit the Fountas & Pinnell Literacy™ Remote Learning page for videos that walk you through how to access and navigate the temporary digital resources.

4. Can the FPC Guided Reading and LLI books be downloaded or printed and sent to children?

No, the books are for teacher access only to be used digitally for viewing. These digital Guided Reading and LLI books will allow you to have materials that are familiar to the children to continue to support literacy learning.

Please see the document in Online Resources listing many suggestions for using the leveled texts, digitally or if you were able to send books home with children. This document provides some activities to consider doing with your Guided Reading or LLI students in small groups or individually to support their development in oral language, writing, reading, and phonics/word study.

Tip: If you are using Zoom, please be sure that your settings are at Host Only Can Share Screen.

5. Will you be providing digital access to the BAS books?

No. The Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) was designed to be administered in person with an unseen text to gather evidence about a child’s literacy development. The assessment was field tested for reliability and validity under these conditions. As a standardized assessment, in order to obtain fair and valid results, standardized procedures must be followed. Without these conditions, the assessment is no longer reliable or valid.

6. Does the FPL team have any alternative ideas or measures that will enable us to collect meaningful data?

The Fountas & Pinnell Literacy™ team has gathered some ideas for alternative measures that you currently have at your disposal that may enable you to collect meaningful data points for each of your students. We hope these alternative measures can be used with relative ease to provide a snapshot of each students’ literacy learning.

7. How can I stay connected with the Fountas & Pinnell Literacy™ team throughout the summer and stay up-to-date on remote learning initiatives and back to school planning resources?

The team is continuing to work on remote learning initiatives. We recommend you bookmark the Fountas & Pinnell Literacy™ Remote Learning page to stay up-to-date on the latest updates, tips, and tools. Also keep your eye on the Fountas & Pinnell Literacy™ blog throughout the summer.
