Create an Animal Journal

Have your students/child create an animal journal by stapling or taping together blank drawing paper and lined notepaper to make small booklets. Have children read a few books on animals that they have at home or can access for free online. Encourage children to talk with you or an adult about each animal. Children can use each blank, unlined page in their notebook for labeled drawings of different animals. On the corresponding lined pages, they can write a fact they learned about each animal. Encourage your children to then share their journals with you.
