Get Moving!
Discuss with the child the different animals you might find on a farm and the way these animals move, such as “Gallop like a horse, run like a dog, pounce like a cat, waddle like a duck, roll in the mud like a pig, strut like a rooster,” and so on. Using index cards, create a set of movement cards with each card showing a different farm animal. Pull a card from the pile, read it out loud, and have the child perform the movement. For example, if the card says "pig," ask the child, “What does a pig do? Let’s roll in the mud like a pig.”
