Peanut Butter and Jelly
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Work with the child on real-world writing, also known as procedural text, being more hands on or hands off depending on the needs of the child. Ask them to write you instructions for how to make a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich. First have them brainstorm the list of materials needed, such as knives and plates, then list the ingredients needed (peanut butter, jelly, and bread). Finally, have them write out the step by step instructions. Bonus: Have the child draw the ingredients they listed.
