Brainstorm with the child a list of different family members. As you identify the different units that make up your extended family, point out that families come in all shapes and sizes. Have the child choose a family member and, together, interview that person about family history. Make a list of questions with the child, starting with: “Tell a story about your brothers or sisters,” and “Tell a story about a family holiday or tradition.”
