Share books that have a strong author point of view on a societal issue, such as Oil Spill!, What's So Bad About Gasoline?, Energy Island, Meadowlands, or Almost Gone. Have the student write a response in their notebook about the whether they were persuaded by the author, citing specific examples of language and illustrations from the books that had a strong persuasive effect.
