Reflecting on Local Heroes
Have a conversation with the student about the ways heroes respond to different situations with kindness and empathy. Discuss how their actions impact the lives of people, animals, and communities. Have the student think about the many different opportunities in their own lives to practice empathy or respond to a given situation with kindness. Why is this important? How have their own lives been impacted by the kindness of others? Encourage the student to explore the idea of celebrating the lives or actions of “unsung heroes” in their community. Invite them to share this person’s kind actions through a medium of their choice.
