Create a Vision Board
Invite the student to think about what is most important to them as well as something they hope to achieve (either a short-term goal or a long-term goal). To help the student, ask questions like: “What truly matters to you?”, “What do you believe in?”, and “What is one goal you hope to achieve today and one goal you hope to achieve in ten years?” You may wish to give examples from your own experience. Invite the student each to create a vision board that shows their goal, the steps they need to take to reach it, and how they will feel when they achieve their goal. Encourage the student to choose images and words or phrases that inspire them and remind them of who they are. Draw the images, use photographs, or cut them out of a periodical. The end goal is to create a board that the student can look at daily (or whenever they wish) to remind them of who they are and who they want to be.
