Invent an Alternate Ending

Choose a classic nursery rhyme or fairy tale. Ask the child to recite it to you, to be sure that they remember it. Discuss the characters in the story and the problem(s) they face. Brainstorm ideas for a new solution and ending to the story. Ask the child to create the alternative ending through writing. Bonus: have the child use art supplies and craft sticks to make stick puppets for each of the characters in the story and act out the new ending.
