Descriptive Language in Poems

Choose a poem about nature to share with the child, perhaps about the ocean or the seashore. Read the poem aloud together and talk about the descriptive words in the poem, and the images they evoke. Have the child write a list of other words that describe the subject of the poem, and then draw a picture that matches the words.
