Write to a Pen Pal

Use local resources or a reputable resource on the Internet to find a pen pal for the child. It could be in an other country, another state, another city, or even another neighborhood of your own hometown. Teach the child the mechanics of writing a letter, such as date, greeting, closing, and addressing an envelope. Talk through possible topics for the body of the letters, including how they are spending quarantine, what they are learning in the school, and information about their pets, hobbies, and interests. When the child receive a response, talk about the similarities and differences between themselves and their pen pals. How do they find common interests to talk about? How do their differences enrich the friendship?
