Write a Letter to Your Present-Day Self

Have the student think about some of their aspirations for the future—whether big or small. Encourage them to ask themselves, “Who am I?”, “Who do I want to be?”, “What is important to me?”, and “What is worth working hard for?” Then have them imagine themselves ten years in the future, and have their future self write a letter to their present-day self. What are they doing? What is important to them? What values do they have? What goals have they accomplished? Store the letter somewhere safe, to be opened again far in the future. They might be surprised one day to read that letter again.
