Talk About What Perseverance Means

Invite the student to talk about why it’s important to be willing to persevere, even if you might not succeed right away. Have them compare how they feel when they try to do something important but difficult and they work hard to succeed, with how they feel if they give up or don’t try at all. Have the student create a project with the title completing the sentence, “Perseverance means. . . .” They can draw a picture, make a collage of words or images, or create any representation of perseverance in action. They might also choose to focus on a person whom they admire for his or her perseverance in achieving something.
