Step Inside a Book

Create a literacy museum with your child. Read a book to or with your child, or have your child talk about a book they recently read independently. Encourage your child to dress up as or draw a character or person from the book. It may also be fun to create props that reflect the characters role/contribution to the book. Your child can take on the role of the character/person and share some of these thoughts as part of their literacy museum:

  • Why did they pick this character/person?

  • What role did this character/person play in the book, the world?

  • What drew you to this character/person?

  • Describe the character/person.

  • Are you similar/different than this character/person?

Happy reading, creating and reflecting!
